Michelle Y. Owens, M.D.
Dr. Owens, a native of Birmingham, Alabama, is a longtime resident of Jackson, Mississippi. She earned her medical degree from the Medical College of Virginia and completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. She went on to complete subspecialty training in Maternal Fetal Medicine at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, where she now serves as Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
In addition to her academic work, Dr. Owens hosts Mississippi Public Broadcasting’s weekly Women’s Health radio program, Southern Remedy for Women. She is actively involved in several state and national medical organizations. Outside of her professional commitments, she enjoys traveling, sports, reading, and music of all genres, though her greatest joy comes from spending time with her husband and their three children.
She currently serves as Vice-President of the Mississippi State Board of Medical Licensure, with her term running through June 30, 2026.
