Dr. Allen Gersh

Dr. Allen Gersh received his medical degree from the University of Illinois in Chicago. He completed an internship at Deaconess Hospital in Buffalo, New York, followed by Internal Medicine training at Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii. He went on to complete a nephrology fellowship at Brooke Army Medical Center in Fort Sam Houston, Texas.

Dr. Gersh began practicing with the Hattiesburg Clinic in 1977. At that time, the community lacked critical care physicians, so he passed his boards in Critical Care and served in that capacity until a Critical Care Department was established. He is now a full-time nephrologist and serves as Medical Director of the Hattiesburg Clinic Dialysis Units.

His leadership experience includes serving as past chairman of the Mississippi State Board of Health, member of the Medicaid Advisory Committee, president of the Mississippi State Nephrologic Society, and former vice president of the National Dialysis Association. He has also chaired the Legislative Council of the Mississippi State Medical Association and held multiple leadership roles at the Hattiesburg Clinic, including Medical Director and Executive Committee member. In addition, Dr. Gersh continues to serve in leadership positions across several civic and religious organizations.

Dr. Gersh lives in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, and currently serves on the Mississippi State Board of Medical Licensure. His term runs through June 30, 2026.
