Requirements
Title 30, Part 2630 of the Board's Administrative Code provides the requirements regarding collaboration with APRNs. The rules promulgated in Title 30, Part 2630 apply to all collaborative relationships with APRNs — not just situations involving free-standing clinics.
Any physician whose collaborative status with an APRN changes (new addition, deletion, or modification) must notify the Board immediately. Waiting until annual license renewal to notify the Board is not acceptable.
Collaboration Protocol
The Board provides a protocol example to facilitate a smooth collaboration process. It is not the Board's intention for a physician to create an exact copy of the example. Each protocol should be individually tailored to each practice situation, keeping in mind the subject matter of the example.
Submitting Documentation
If a physician anticipates collaborating with an APRN, the physician must submit the required documentation via the online licensure gateway.
If a physician wishes to collaborate under the Primary Care Extended Mileage language, the physician must submit a letter via the gateway identifying the name(s), address(es), and license numbers of any collaborative APRNs, and affirmatively stating the physician has read the regulations and meets the extended mileage requirements.
