CME accreditationThe Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) is a national accrediting organization that establishes standards for continuing medical education activities for physicians. ACCME accredits CME providers and supports systems used to document and verify CME participation.

Board certificationThe American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) is an organization that oversees physician specialty certification boards in the United States. Physicians who actively maintain certification through an ABMS member board may use that certification to demonstrate CME compliance, when applicable.

Board certification and CME trackingThe American Osteopathic Association (AOA) provides board certification programs and continuing medical education tracking for osteopathic physicians. Accreditor of Category 1-A continuing education providersThe CPME accredits the organizations that sponsor or conduct Category 1-A continuing medical education for podiatrists. Programs from CPME-accredited providers count toward a podiatrist's continuing education requirement.
