Koomarie "Shoba" Gaymes
Koomarie Shoba Gaymes was born and raised on the East Coast of Guyana, South America. She graduated from Belhaven University with a degree in History and Political Science and from Hinds Community College with a degree in Elementary Education. Passionate about civic engagement, Shoba has made volunteering an integral part of her life. She is actively involved in several organizations in Mississippi and internationally, including service on the Executive Board of an organization in her native Guyana.
Her leadership roles include serving as President of the Central Medical Society Alliance (CMSA) and President of the Mississippi State Medical Association Alliance (MSMAA). She has also contributed her time and expertise on committees for the American Medical Association Alliance (AMAA) and the Southern Medical Association Alliance (SMAA).
Shoba Gaymes serves on the Mississippi State Board of Medical Licensure, with her term running through June 30, 2026.
